What’s the course about?
We offer a two year full-time Performing Arts course for young people aged over 16.  The aim of the course is to help you prepare to audition for the next level of your training by working on skills you may have already have like drama and introducing new ones like dancing and singing.

How long has the course been running?
It’s been running since September 2004.

What can you get from the course?
You’ll have the opportunity to take exams in the following subjects:
Drama
Singing
Ballet
Tap
Modern Dance
You’ll also have the chance to study either AS/A2 Dance or Active IQ Exercise to Music.

Does the course work?
Since the course started in 2004 we are delighted to say that we have a 100% success rate in getting our graduating students placed in colleges for their next level of training.  We’re also pleased to say that we also have a 100% success rate in our exams, so yes, the course works.

What colleges have our students gone on to?
Laine Theatre Arts, Arts Ed, Performers College, Millennium Dance 2000, Bird College, Urdang Academy, Leicester College of Performing Arts (LCPA), SLP, Bodywork, Masters Performing Arts to name but a few. Is it hard work?
Yes, it is hard work and very disciplined but if this is the career you want, it’s worth all the effort.

Does it cost a lot of money?
If you are aged between 16-18 then the course is free.  If you are aged 19 and over, there is a charge for the course but there may be the possibility of help towards the cost.  We are happy to discuss this with you.

What makes this course different to other courses?
We have designed our course to give you an experience that resembles the next level of training.  You will receive at least 30 hours training per week in the subjects that you will need to get you ready for that next important step.  Audition training and preparation is key to our course.  We aim to continue our success rate by working on songs, monologues, dance pieces, interview skills and self-confidence to get you fully prepared.

Will it be the right course for me?
Every performer is different and we appreciate the individuality of every student.  Whilst giving you an all round training, we work with you to bring out your best and for you to make the most of your strengths.  You will receive termly assessments and individual learning plans to discuss your progress and future development.

Who are the tutors?
All our tutors are qualified, or working professionals that have the relevant professional experience to advise and educate students to the standard required to meet the full-time 3 year course expectations.  Many of our tutors have either been taught, or have been teaching in the 3 year vocational colleges so have direct knowledge of the courses and specifics required.  Guest teachers and working professionals are invited into the college on a regular basis to enhance your experience and knowledge.  These include choreographers, West End cast members and actors from TV and screen.

What’s college life like?
The studios are set in beautiful and peaceful grounds of a historic building.
Everyone at the college is focused on training for their career and this creates a progressive team with a common goal.  The atmosphere is friendly and supportive amongst the students.  We arrange theatre trips and social events, which creates a close, family feel.
During the course you will be involved in public performances throughout the year, the main showcase being our Graduation Show held in July.

What Examinations will I take?
Our dance qualifications are with GQAL and follow the ISTD Syllabus.  Drama and Musical Theatre are with Trinity College.
You can gain UCAS points with the Trinity examinations and our A Level dance course. We also offer GCSE Dance with AQA and Exercise o Music through Active IQ.
